This handleless tea cup, a style know as Yunomi, is Kutani ware from the Meiji Period (1868 - 1912). Yunomi are tradtionally used for everyday, casual green tea drinking in Japan.

It features a pattern of intricate thistle flowers and leaves in a rust red or iron red pigment with gold gilt accents. It has a Crackly-yaki finish.

Kutani ware is a traditional Japanese porcelain from the Kaga province (modern-day Ishikawa prefecture), known for its vibrant overglaze enamel designs. Pieces like these are sought after by collectors for their craftmanship and artistic value.
